Day 31

Brrr, it's really cold today... We were walking to and back from Marché du Midi, altogether two hours and a half. And we have an abundance of diverse melons & pineapples at home now, as well as white raisins, deliciously smelling red tomatoes, cucumber, common beans, a bush of thyme in a pot, and fifty red freesias for me... ;-) Back home, some eating & drinking, some chores, siesta for Berry, some browsing for me, some cooking, eating & drinking again... We wrapped up this cold & lazy day with Next (2007) and Spanglish (2004), and Berry kindly made a delicious veggie juice for me in-between; with too much garlic (by accident), but he was kissing me anyway... ;-) Ugh, late to bed, again.

• Humor: Moderate • Feeling: Puzzled • Hungry: No, but I was really desperate to eat & chew in-between movies...
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, and pimpernel leaves tea
• Fruit juice: Apple juice (370 ml), watermelon juice (800 ml)

Day 30

Berry was awake before 4h, I was awake soon after 5h, and we simultaneously woke up around 5:30. That's what happen if one is early in bed, soon after 22:00. Berry was occupied with his breakfast & yesterday's news on internet, I was making my teas & melon juice. Showering. Moisturizing. And another measurements day! Minus 9 kilos & minus 10 centimeters around my waist in 29 days! "Don't get skinnier", he smilingly said after assisting... ;-) No worries, I still can't see my pubic hair without bending slightly... ;-) And this won't happen without stretching & exercising! Ugh... Clothes on. His lunch box (pot with pineapple chunks & pot with sushis - he has working Saturday). Goodbye hug & kisses. Blogging. Ugh... light rain shower outside.

As I had no lust to go out in this somber & cold Brussels weather, I spent majority of my day blogging & studying my detailed lab exam which finally landed in our mailbox yesterday. The expensive foodscreen test is rather good: I'm allergic only to amaranth and extremely allergic only to oyster mushrooms & poppy seeds. Well, if nothing worse than these... ;-) Although, I'm seriously glad I have a RDV with dr. Henry scheduled next Tuesday! As per 28th May, my body overproduces vitamins B12, B9 and dopamine (!!); there's a lack of vitamins A, D and serotonin (!); I have a cholesterol & erythrocytic fatty acids mess inside of me; and candida albicans parameter is ten times higher than maximum. So help me... Nature!

The evening was a cozy lazy one as well. Berry was watching a football game, I was first making a veggie juice for both, and than finally got back to reading that awesome Lipton's book The Biology of Belief. Afterwards, we were together dozing off & on while watching downloaded finale of La Nouvelle Star, and were therefore really late in bed (before one a.m.) which is not so common for us any longer.

• Weight: 56,2 kg (said Berry) • Waist around sacral (2nd) chakra: 76 cm • Low hips: 93 cm

• Veggie juice: tomatoes, carrots, green pepper, both sorts of basil stalks, parsley stalks & garlic clove (300 ml)
• Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies) • Special treat: Berry moisturized almost my entire body
• Morning: 10° C • Max. daytime temperature: 15° C • Weather: Cloudy, rainy, timid sun, cloudy, rainy... hard on us in Bxl!

Day 29

I've seen a fraction of sunlight at 6:30 when I woke up, now, there are only thick clouds, smog & cold. Showering. Moisturizing. Watermelon in his lunch box (pot with ½ of it already cut in pieces one can put in a mouth ;-). Nagging at apparently inappropriate time about his work-overload... Goodbye hug & kiss. Clothes on. Making teas & orange juice. Blogging. Out for a RDV with my physician at 8:30, for vital functions check-up & some blood sampling...

At first, walking back home, I was still in a shock, and then in a slightly angry disbelief, now I'm just plain sad... and recovering my powers, self-esteem & positive determination. For sure, there are quite some things more humiliating than experiencing the raw power doctors execute over patients, and also smack it straight into your face, but there aren't many situations in life when one feels more powerless and as without options as when a doctor, no matter the reason, doesn't agree with you or your (sound) request. In order to get the bitterness out of my system, here's the whole story.

Medical doctors, you really & often behave as being All-Knowing-And-Infallible-Gods, and the only source of wisdom. But you definitively aren't; proven many many times. The last portion of my idealism - that doctors are there to support us, our health, and our optimal well-being - has definitely gone with Brussels wind today. And now, I need to realign & tune into my growing belief that we are capable to cure ourselves by changing our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. All by ourselves. With undeniable help of  "the best doctors in the world: Doctor Diet, Doctor Quiet, and Doctor Merryman" (by Jonathan Swift).

2 : 2  •  Slovenia : USA    Congrats! Slovenians can do it! I can do it!!! We can all do it! ;-))    Wishing you a relaxing evening & good night!

• Humor: Moody • Feeling: Blue • Hungry: No
• Headache: Almost the whole day (Really weird - low outside pressure or low blood pressure or my period? All three, I'd reckon!)
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, and pimpernel leaves tea
• Juices: Orange & grapefruit juice (200 ml), watermelon juice (620 ml), carrot & spinach juice (400 ml)
• Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies) • Smelly necklace: 100 minutes
• Special treat: Berry moisturized my entire body
• Morning: 11° C • Max. daytime temperature: 16° C • Weather: Cloudy

PS: Berry was home before19:30. I was just finishing another sushi combination. This time closer to original ones - with rice, tomato sauce (spices & ume plum vinegar), sliced salmon & cucumber stripes. So, his starter was served really fast. "Leftovers" baked in a foil (rice, tomato slices, salmon, spices & olive oil) were delicious as well. Yap, I really love cooking. On one condition: that it doesn't take long time to prepare & cook the whole meal, preferably less than a half an hour. Afterwards, we had a serious & fruitful talk, but went to bed quite early (before England vs. Algeria match was finished with zeros ;-).

Day 28

Up into a fair morning (clouds & modest sun) at 6:30; shower; moisturizing; tongue cleaning; clothes on; sage tea; lunch box; goodbye hug & kiss; orange juice; blogging; welcoming Sonia; out at 8:30.

I was admiring these white (and orange) opium poppy flowers on the way to our dentist and back, through a nearby park Botanique. For so long that I was too late for taking photos of the orange ones which were awesome. Lovely, this white one, n'est pas? And they're huge & tall in comparison with red ones I know from home & nature.

I went food shopping before RDV with my psy at 9:45, and after chatting with him for 45 minutes (my cure & Berry's working conditions), straight home. Wow, what a surprise in our mail box: written report from the first endo I saw in Brussels on 3rd May! Unbelievable speed! And my physician was getting nervous as she still hasn't got the report from the third endo(crinologist) I saw on 20th May in St. Luc... ;-) Later, Mojca's refreshing "unprevista lunch visit" (she didn't want salad, only my orange juice mix), some more internet research... Calm evening, wrapped up with a Boiler Room (2000).

• Humor: Moderate • Feeling: Blue • Hungry: No • Headache: In the late afternoon (first day of period or not enough of liquid intake?)
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, and pimpernel leaves tea
• Fruit juices: Orange & grapefruit juice (220 ml), apple juice (420 ml)
Veggie juices: Breuss juice (no black radish & potato; 100 ml), tomatoes, carrots, spinach, basil & garlic clove (300 ml)
• Special treat: Berry moisturized almost my entire body
• Morning: 12° C • Max. daytime temperature: 22° C • Weather: Fair or sunny?

Day 27 & 15 days to go

Good morning, sunshine! I still find it unbelievable how cheerful & grateful I get each time there's a clear sky & sunshine outside or on my face. I definitely run on sun! And we seriously lack of it in Brussels...

Berry was very late yesterday, but came with an awesome bouquet of freshly cut light pink peonies from his garden (he was at his house & with his kids). For my first sushis, I got a surprised & very pleased facial expressions, as well as "Wow! This is so delicious! You can stay." YES! ;-) Later, he told me he's almost without tobacco (he rolls & smokes Drum), and that he didn't buy another pack. Precious, I wish you'd stop smoking indeed & make me company on this no-smoking-path. If not, I'll need to put you on a juice fasting cure! ;-) Btw, the same applies to you, my baby!

I made our evening somber. Berry came home at 19:20 - 11 hours at work, at least 10 working hours, and not a simple phone call re. renovation which is stuck (as he's busy non stop) - and I don't know how to cope with that any longer. Although, I'm also not capable to precisely communicate what's inside of me; at present. Ugh, I don't like it & I don't like how it makes me feel...

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Sunny in the morning, cloudy in the evening
• Hungry: No; but I'd love to eat dinner with Berry (tagliatelle with smoked turkey in my curry sauce)
• Fruit juices: Orange & grapefruit juice (210 ml), galia melon juice (divine; 380 ml)
• Veggie juice: Tomatoes, young spinach, ½ of fennel & garlic clove (250 ml) • Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies)
• Walking: More than three hours • Breathing exercises: Some Special treat: Sunbathing in the morning & in the evening
• Morning: 9° C • Max. daytime temperature: 22° C • Weather: Sunny, with clouds

Day 26

Before 6, "Good morning, gray Brussels!" Lunch box for my hubby; shower; moisturizing of my body which is peeling on the "cycling" spots; making my teas & my first juice. After nine, too cold & windy to sunbath... ;-( Listening to just downloaded Victoria Boutenko's seminar on 12 Steps to Raw Foods. She's so interesting & common sense! In the meantime, I've ordered few "raw food" books - mainly recipes, in order to spin off my inspiration & get some new skills and ideas... ;-) Finally, at noon: lymphatic drainage massage! Micheline is really as good as she said she was! On top of it, I had no lymph blockages in my body, and no ganglion nodules to loosen! No wonder, 26 days of juice fasting has done many tricks already & my body has got rid of bunch of tocsins so far! I feel sooo gooood... ;-)

I couldn't resist - for the very first time, I've done sushi at home. Yap, no cooking involved (therefore, no smells) and à la Aida. I used couscous leftovers, put fresh tomato mixed with spices on it (sauce), added stripes of avocado, and stripes of smoked turkey (into 4 big rolls) and stripes of beef tongue (into 2). One big sushi roll = eight usual sushis; it'll do for Berry's dinner & tomorrow's lunch. Ugh, I'm so curious how they taste...

Some sunbathing afterwards, listening to last two CDs of Dyer & Northrup refreshing tandem on Inside-Out Wellness, and wondering how late Berry will come home today... And now, I'm finally going to start reading Lipton's revolutionary The Biology of Belief... Wishing you a fine, cozy evening, and good night!

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Fine, a bit tired & skinny • Hungry: No • Headache: Minor one, in the afternoon (first one since Day 2; massage?)
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, and pimpernel tea (leaves found, roots not yet)
• Fruit juice: Pineapple juice (370 ml) • Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies)

• Veggie juice: Tomatoes, pepper, spinach, parsley & two garlic cloves - I adore it, although this one was spicy; no kissing this evening (400 ml)
• Special treats: Berry moisturized my entire body; lymphatic drainage massage; sunbathing in the evening; my favorite position in bed... ;-)
• Morning: 11° C (at 8h) • Max. daytime temperature: 19° C • Weather: Fair

Day 25

A golden early morning around 6:30 turned into a fairly cloudy one soon... Shower; moisturizing with a body cream; clothes on; Berry's lunch bag; hug & kiss for a good day; orange juice; making of my six teas; my Corsa into garage (ventilator's engine changing); walking home; folding dry laundry & into the cabinets with it; making photos of peony's transformation from a bud into a beautiful flower head with many layers of petals; some blogging & e-mails; sunbathing in this feeble sun (with a bit of news reading, few breathing exercises, and some moments of meditation); cleaning of my tongue; dentist at 14h.

Berry was really late, he came home well after eight... Concerning all, I can say that this is a borderline to slavery. Borderline? Plain slavery!!! And it's getting worse... He's leaving after seven, he commutes approximately a half an hour (each way), an hour lunch break is never one hour long, so he usually works far more than 9 hours and up to 11 hours per day! I seriously dislike it, more & more. If one would get at least compensated for ongoingly extending himself! Nope, not at all; ever!? And as they're so heavily understaffed (not only recently, since I've met him!), they can't do their work properly & they can hardly take some of their piling free days off... Yes, it is extremely hard to maintain a positive attitude! This won't "end up" fine for Berry and other employees nor for the bosses, that's for sure.

As he was so late, I couldn't stand the thought of not making him a simple dinner, without too much of smells: medium bok choys (steamed), chicken frankfurters (cooked), a glass of white vine, and crème brûlée. We finished a day by finally watching Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days (2009). Guys, please watch this documentary! Regarding my cure, current studies, thinking, cooking, this movie... we've both got aware we're in the process of changing quite some of our habits, our food intake & more. It'll be challenging, but we feel it's worth the initial effort. One step at a time!

Humor: Good • Feeling: Fine • Hungry: No
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, and pimpernel leaves tea
• Fruit juices:
Orange & grapefruit juice (240 ml), red & white raisins juice (350 ml)
• Walking: At least two hours • Breathing exercises: Few
• Special treats: Berry moisturized almost my entire body ("almost" because I only do torso); sunbathing in the morning
Morning: 13° C (at 9h) • Max. daytime temperature: 21° C • Weather: Fair

Day 24

Waking up already at 5:30, well before the alarm clock! Yap, we need to drive those two visiting kids to the airport this morning. Oh, it's a measurements day too! Minus 7 kilos & minus 8 centimeters around my waist in 23 days! Well, slowly but steadily going down; a nice byproduct indeed... ;-) And since I so much miss eating & chewing, I wonder whether it make sense to schedule an ultrasound check-up sooner... Ugh... a tough one!

We left home at 7:30 and took "kids" for a Moroccan breakfast at Marché du Midi; that's what we try to arrange for all our visitors. While they're eating delicious Moroccan pancakes (commonly with cheese, olives-veggie mix & honey) and drinking Moroccan tea (green tea, fresh mint & sugar), I was purchasing pineapples, melons, tomatoes, white & red raisins, a lot of mint for Sara & a bouquet for us. On the way back to the car, I've got a pot of fresh Greek Basil (cute basil with mini leaves), and a bouquet - gorgeous dark red peonies! Off we go & park at Charleroi airport well past nine, on time. Ugh, my baby is leaving me, again... Great to see, hug, kiss & talk to you in person, and nice for having you both around, even for such a short time! Have a fine trip & take a good care of yourself!!! Bisous!

We went back home for a lazy day. First football match & victory for Slovenian team at World Cup! Veggie soup for both & delicious lunch for Berry - small & soft beefsteaks, couscous with mint & lemon juice, and steamed broccoli. We watched half of The Good Guy (2009) and ten minutes of Adam (2009). I was resting and dozing off & on, but finally served strawberries with sugar during Equilibrium (2002) he watched alone. We finished this Sunday with The Contractor (2007), "moelleux au chocolat" (well, Berry only), and final twenty minutes of a foot match Germany : Australia. Wow, 4 : 0!

This evening, I've realized that cooking is most probably "killing" me indeed. I love cooking and spoiling my loved one(s) with food, but it's almost for sure inducing my growing longing for eating and chewing, as well as much too much juice drinking. So... I'll try to stop. No more cooking?!? It'll be hard on me! I can't imagine Berry eating sandwiches & other (junk) food for several weeks... Let's see what happens, and how he & I will cope with me not cooking fresh home made meals, and preparing his nyami lunch boxes & special treats... Ugh!

Day 23

We woke up at 7, simultaneously. Barry made his usual breakfast (coffee & toasted bread with Nutella), I took a shower, cleaned my tongue, and claimed some assistance with body butter... ;-) Later, I tackled my sage tea & orange juice, as well as I already prepared a smoothie for sleeping kids (who were unconscious until noon).

I need to share with you that the past two days were quite tough on me - I thought I'd crack and restart eating. I'm almost never hungry, but I miss eating and chewing sooooo much... you can't even imagine. Yes, it might not be OK that I cook for Berry (and eventual guests), but I do have the impression that by cooking & serving meals, I feed at least my eyes, as well as keep myself occupied. Berry offered to undergo the same regime for the rest of my cure... I feel flattered but I can't say "please" or similar, as I don't feel like this would help me, nor ceasing cooking for him. Well, not at present at least. And I was thinking about whether the goal of this cure would be reached or not; and whether to get a thyroid ultrasound sooner; and... I don't know how I'll manage to cope within the reaming days of my fasting cure, but I hope I will.

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Slightly weak & vertiginous • Hungry: Not really; yes; not really... I miss food!!!
• Herbal tea: Sage tea • Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies)
• Fruit juices: Orange & grapefruit juice (200 ml), pineapple juice (200 ml)

• Photo: A trial whether new camera really reacts on smile - it does but we need to practice ;-)
Morning: 13° C • Max. daytime temperature: 20° C • Weather: Cloudy

Day 22

I woke up at 5!!! No comment. Wow, I'm into the second part of my cure - I could start a countdown... ;-)

I was making all my six teas (no more kidney tea!), lunch box for my honey, "moelleux au chocolat" (on my photo) for evening dessert (5 ramekins only), delicious breakfast smoothie and sandwiches for the kids... as apparently we do go to the coast today, including some biking on dunes (which was my only condition). To Cadzand after Sara's dentist appointment! We'll leave a bit late, around noon, but I really like the idea of this team building afternoon, although I'm feeling a bit weak right now.

Forget it, kids changed their minds - no cycling on dunes today but strolling around Brussels! Fine, on one condition: Eat all sandwiches I made! I escorted Sara to dentist & went back home with Berry who had an appointment prior to hers. I brought him his lunch bag but next to his car, he decided to take another coffee at home before leaving for work. Only to let me know later he took a day off! I was melting. I adore this kind of surprises!

We were considering options what to do or where to go (I served kids a brunch with their sandwiches in the meantime), we crossed out renovation & Cadzand, and decided for Berry's idea: a walk & lizarding at Gaasbeek Castle Estate... Good choice for this cloudy & sunny weather - we had a great zen afternoon (near the chapel on this photo), and came home around 19h. We still caught some sunbathing on our sofa... where we were not making war... ;-))

We wrapped up the evening with almost 15 minutes of Land of the Blind (2006), more than a half an hour of Notes on a Scandal (2006), and the whole The New Daughter (2009) - don't do the same horror mistake...

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Fine but weak • Hungry: No, but I extremely miss eating & chewing
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Sage tea (for the road), cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, and pimpernel leaves tea
• Fruit juices: Orange & grapefruit juice (150 ml), watermelon juice (500 ml), apple juice (450 ml)

• Special treat: A weekday with Berry; walking, talking a bit, lizarding & sunbathing • Breathing exercises: Few
Morning (at 7): 17° C • Max. daytime temperature: 24° C • Weather: Mostly cloudy, sunny...

Day 21 & 21 days to go

Alarm clock at 7:02. Lunch bag for Berry. Preparing all of my herbal teas. Goodbye hug & kiss. Shower. Clothes on. Finished crème brûlée custard & put ten ramekins in the oven. Woke Sara up & walked my severely constipated princess to her first colon hydrotherapy. Left her with Micheline, purchased some necessities while walking around downtown for almost an hour. Went home to leave goodies there, took a car, picked Sara up & took her to laboratory (a thorough blood check will be done). Back home, I put crème brûlée ramekins in the fridge, and made this young couple a breakfast - great smoothie: mango, nectarine, banana, kiwi, raspberries (frozen) & two handfuls of almonds. Me? C'mon, drinking teas only... ;-) Hey, by the way, today is my 21st day which means I'm right in the middle of the cure!!!

Than it was already my turn to go for a colon hydrotherapy. What a great feeling that is, when they clean your inside! Well, it's not that it's much to clean the third time during fasting, but as I'm not making daily or at least regular enemas (colon irrigation) at home, I felt I needed this third session sooner then foreseen (on 22nd). We were chatting with Micheline who was explaining, among others, her morning session with Sara (no details, sorry ;-). I took notes of her suggestions for gluten intolerant Sara, diet & all. Yap, we both need to change our "intake habits"...

After it, we met for lunch at macrobiotic resto, and parted after it as I had a meeting with an electrician. A bit of relaxing behind the screen (blogging, of course), and suddenly, I realized we have no starter for today. What goes well with mussels à la buzara (mussels in a huge pot with garlic, white vine & parsley; we don't put bread crumbs in this sauce mix any longer)? Shrimps cocktail! And out I went again... not only because of lack of shrimps at home (no worries, a decent Delhaize shop is across the street), but also because I forgot to go to the pharmacy for Sara's pills...

Their dinner: shrimps cocktail & 2 kilos of mussels à la buzara, and the most delicious crème brûlée far around for dessert (on my photo). Nyami! Well, I couldn't resist the smells, and I took a plate of mussels sauce as a broth... Mea culpa or Carpe Diem? Hmmm... alcohol evaporates, so this can really be considered as a soup. Voilà!

We skipped playing social games with kids (sorry, not a light decision) - both extremely tired, we were exchanging our days on our huge sofa, and were off to bed pretty soon. Most probably, I was sound asleep around 22h already; right after a short chat about our impression that our libidos went almost dormant during this cure of mine, simultaneously...

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Fine & sooooo busy • Hungry: No
• Herbal teas (6 cups): Kidney tea (last day!), sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, and marigold tea
• Consumed: Clear miso soup (250 ml; mistake - diarrhea before bedtime), Charentais melon juice (100 ml), "mussels" broth (200 ml)
• Walking: Around three hours • Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies)
• Max. daytime temperature: 21° C • Weather: Cloudy, drizzly & rainy

Day 20

Awake before 6:30. Olive oil pulling under the shower. Body milk everywhere. Making sage tea. At the same time delicious sandwiches for Berry and his lunch bag. Dressing up (wow, I'm so skinny & looking really great). Kissing him goodbye. Cleaning after us. Welcoming Sonia (Ecuadorian), our cleaning lady. A bit of cyber world. SMS to Sara. Out for food & stuff shopping - my baby is coming home today (my photo: Sara with Dane, her new boyfriend)!!!

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Fine & a bit tired • Hungry: No
• Herbal teas: Sage tea
• Juices: Apple juice (300 ml), veggie juice (300 ml)
Olive oil pulling: Under the shower • Walking: At least an hour
• Morning: 15° C • Max. daytime temperature: 19° C • Weather: Rainy, rainy...

Day 19

That's getting really weird! I woke up at 5:30! Well, since many days, I'm awake well before alarm goes on (at 7:02 ;-), and sooner each day. Although yesterday, for example, I was in bed before midnight, reading a bit, so I must have fallen asleep somewhere after midnight. A bit more than five hours of sleep?!? Weird. But I'm feeling fine... and I've already cleaned & rearranged few "black spots" in the kitchen... ;-)

Huh, not only kitchen! Yesterday, I cleaned & rearranged the cabinets with our clothes. And tried a zillion things in order to find stuff that suits me at present (plenty, no worries - I have a range from 55 to 65 kilos ;-)... At the end, there were piles of clothes, mainly mine, that Berry will drive to our cleaning lady today (Corsa is completely full of bags behind). It felt awesome! Well, it still does. And I feel good... ;-)

Those who know me, know that I don't really have a "bordelo" at home, things are more or less arranged and at their places (well, in such a small apartment it's really a must)... but within a year or two, we always manage to create some "black spots" that need to be cleaned & rearranged at some point, as well as stuff to be thrown out... How symbolic! Cleaning the body, outside of it, and some mind cleaning in-between... ;-)

Oh, yes, I almost forgot. I'm also in the process of a complete dental amalgam "detoxification" (all amalgam fillings out of my mouth as soon as possible), and reconstruction of all teeth that need one, including three implants. Enough of details. If you need a good & gentle (!) dentist in Brussels, who won't rob your wallet (it will still cost you, don't get me wrong, but not as much as I was at least previously experiencing in Brussels), I can recommend dr. Elisabeth Kosa (read: Koscha; a Hungarian from Romania) without a single doubt. And in SLO, I can highly recommend dr. Jernej Barlič in Brežice.

• Humor: Good • Feeling: Fine & in a cleaning mood • Hungry: No, a tinny bit, no... ;-)
• Herbal teas (7 cups): Kidney tea, sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, pimpernel tea (leaves found, roots not yet)

• Juices: Pineapple juice (150 ml), Charentais melon juice (130 ml), Breuss juice (I forgot to put the celery in the mix... 100 ml)

• Supplement: One BiOmega (fish oil & some other goodies)
• Morning: 16° C (at 9:20) • Max. daytime temperature: 22° C • Weather: Cloudy, fair, cloudy, rainy, fair with rain... typical Brussels.

Q & A with Tom Coghill

Although Tom answered to all my questions on his site, I'm posting our "questions & answers" session here as well.

1) What do you think of combining Breuss Cure with some more juices fasting (fruit juices & veggie juices)?
Tom: If you do not have cancer, then yes, add what you want. The juices by Breuss are low calorie as not to feed tumor growth.

2) When juice fasting, do you remove all particles you possible are able to from the juice (as requested by Breuss)?
Tom: It is good to strain the juice as it keeps the colon more empty. Fiber is great when eating but fills the colon during fasting.

3) Mostly, I drink juices of one fruit only: apple juice, pineapple juice, orange or orange & grapefruit juice, white raisin juice, water melon juice... Which fruit juices would you actually recommend I add to my cure?
Tom: For cancer a massive dose of vitamin E daily over 2000 IU for it anti angiogenesis factor and pancreatic enzyme of the Kelly treatment that is more effective than the Breuss Cure.

4) Apart from Breuss juice, I really adore a veggie mix juice I make from 2-3 tomatoes, a bit of green pepper, 3 handfuls of young spinach leaves & bunch of basil leaves. Which veggie juices would you actually recommend I add to my cure?
Tom: What you are doing is perfect.

5) The one that's puzzling me quite a a bit is juice quantity. I didn't even try to stick to Breuss recommendation to take only a sip/gulp of a juice... Well, I try to, but I make many gulps... ;-) Usually somewhere from 150 up to 350 ml. What are your experience & recommendation?
Tom: Cancer love glucose and needs 10 times that of a normal cell.  Lower blood glucose levels are key to killing tumor growth. Therefor we had our cancer patients stick to 1/2 liter a day.

6) I'm a bit skeptical about mixing fruits & veggies into one juice, as apparently, we're digesting them differently.
As you have that kind of mixes among the recipes, please comment.
Tom: Juice need no digestion so what advantage can you get by food combining?

7) I don't eat/drink onion or vegetable broth each day - do your clients on Breuss cure drink it each day & what's you're experience?
Tom: We never had any broth with the cancer cure.  Most were terminal with day, weeks or months to live before entering treatment. Heat kills enzymes.  Broth would be fine for early stage cancers.

8) Would soaking dry acai berries and goji berries and later making a juice (out of one at a time) be worth of effort & money?
Tom: Sure as you are getting a wider spectrum of nutrients and they have unique health properties.

9) I liked colonic hydrotherapy (twice during my cure & so far) and feelings after it, but I'm quite skeptical about daily (or once per two days) colonic cleansing at home... During juice fasting, would we really need to do it?
Tom: During a juice fast an enema is not total necessary but for cancer the cleaner the colon the better the body detoxifies. For cancer, a daily coffee enema is recommended.

Again, THANKS, Tom!

Day 18

Clouds for good morning and fourth measurements day! Minus 6 kilos & minus 7 centimeters around my waist in 17 days! Cool, a nice byproduct... ;-) And the goiter & nodule in my neck are shrinking as well, n'est pas!?! Well, the last day of my cure is 1st July - still 24 days to go! Breuss recommends to wait with check-up exams for about 2 weeks, but as my birthday comes soon afterwards... I couldn't resist, and I scheduled an ultrasound (echography) on 9th July in the morning... ;-) I love personal & positive birthday presents!!!

The cure days? In general, I'm not hungry at all. Some mornings, I have little cravings which vanishes when drinking first two teas... or at latest with a first juice. Especially in the evenings, I have a considerable lust for eating & chewing, although I'm not hungry. And when watching movies, I crave popcorn from time to time. That's it. Moreover, I'm not drinking coffee nor smoking for 18th day, and I can't even believe I was... ;-) I don't miss them, and even motorical longing for cigarettes almost disappeared. I'm truly amazed. And I'm sure that 18 days ago, it was exactly the right time for starting this cure, and all the rest that followed. Today, I'm feeling great, much better than before the cure, I look great & I like my "old" figure back (apparently ideal weight for me at this age)... and more is yet to come. I'm thrilled about all this great stuff but lack of eating & chewing! :-))

Concerning the comments that I'm actually not really following & sticking to the Breuss Cure letter by letter... Indeed, I'm not.
•  Breuss juice is not that bad at all... and at the beginning I was more or less fine with it. But I somehow started skipping it, and replacing it with fruit juices (I was craving fruits!), and later with veggie mixes as well... Well, after several variations of Breuss juice, I found out that the ingredient that makes my throat itch is this damn celery root (I'll replace it with celery stalks today, we'll see ;-)
Almost each day, I drink all five of generally recommended herbal teas during this cure (kidney tea for only 3 days more!), and both that are recommended for thyroid & goiter problems (one replaced by leaves as roots are nowhere to be found).
• From time to time - not each day and seldom twice per day - I eat/drink the allowed onion broth, but there are days I long for some more veggies in it, so I make an inspirational vegetable soup & eat/drink its broth.
• Lately, each day, I drink at least one fruit juice... and sometimes a veggie mix... but not as recommended by Breuss - a gulp or two - I usually drink somewhere from 200 to 350 ml. Well, I'm blond... ;-)

Anyway, people are juice fasting because of cancer or other health related reasons for ages, with fruit and/or vegetable juices, so... I do feel I'm on a right track & doing just fine with listening to myself & my body. And for few of my concerns & questions, I turned to Tom Coghill for his precious feedback. Thanks, Tom!

Day 17

Well, my shoulders, arms and upper part of my thighs were quite reddish & hurt a bit, so there was a need for a lot of olive body butter on them (and around)... ;-) Although, I got dressed, made a coffee for Berry who's renovating, and took a bottle of sage tea and a bottle of apple juice (one bottle too many) with me to Marché du Midi. Fruits & veggies shopping spree! Yap, also a bit more as my baby is coming home for few days! Countdown: 3 days!!!

I was walking to Midi, bathing in full sunshine & warmth of the morning - it took me 40 minutes of a steady walk to get there. Not bad. And as there wasn't so much traffic as during weekdays & Saturdays, it was definitely more fun as the straight way I took is really picturesque... including tourists. Two small dark green water melons, three huge pineapples, bunch of mangoes, bunch of avocados, few bouquets of mint, more than two kilos of deliciously smelling tomatoes, quite a bag of long green peppers (Berry likes baked ones), bit more than 200 g of young salad greens mix, two really small grilled chickens, and bouquet of eight peonies (simple ones, pink).

Soon after noon it started raining, so I headed home... walking... but I gave up at the second metro station, and took a tram home. I came home soaking wet... Welcome to Brussels! From sun to clouds and drizzle back to some sun and than, raining again... all within few hours... ;-) I spent the rest of the Sunday cooking for Berry & doing chores. And we were wrapping it up with about a half an hour of The Crossing Guard (1995), fifteen minutes of Sideways (2004), and the whole Curse of the Golden Flower (2006).

Day 16

Bottle of sage tea, bottle of fruit juice & bottle of Breuss juice, some clothes, bathing suits, beach towel, food goodies (four course meal ;-) and a bottle of Za for Berry... and off we go, with both bicycles on our car, towards the coast! So cool!

Back from cycling on Cadzand dunes! With three bicycles!!! I've got an early present for my birthday: a brand new Dutch bike!!! Gazelle Chamonix Plus! Tra la la la... Fully equipped: with a bike computer, two hanging bags across its luggage rack, a metal basket in front, a bottle holder with a huge thermos bottle, and a great security lock extension! Tra la la la... Thank you, Precious!

We certainly did at least 30 kilometers on bikes! Under the hot Dutch sun, at 26-28° C, mostly on dunes & along the sea! I was OK, not hungry at all, but it's true as well that we weren't cycling fast (not only because of my cure ;-). Later, we spent few hours on the beach, Berry eating my goodies, I regretting I had but Breuss juice left (not a treat, that's sure), sunbathing, dozing off... We wrapped-up the excursion with strolling in the water & on the sand... Well, we were in Heaven! Spending time together, going with a flow, enjoying this splendid day, and moving our bodies a bit more than usual. Great decision! And now... we both need a shower & a fair portion of soothing body butter afterwards... Yap, we're both "rosy" a bit, me especially... ;-)

Day 15

Each time I open my eyes in such a spotlessly sunny morning, it feels like a gift from Universe! Thanks!!! And each time he takes me in that unmatchable protective & gentle morning hug... it's like Heaven! I'm grateful for both, for sunshine & Berry!

Ugh, I couldn't resist - I was too curious to wait until 18th day to see where my weight collapsed: I have less than 60 kilos! Meaning, I lost more than five kilos in two weeks! Hopefully both in my neck are shrinking & disappearing as well!!! And I feel "très bien", I like my new "old" figure, and when I'm going to restart eating, I really need to monitor it and stop it around 59-60 kilos at latest... which is apparently the ideal weight for my height... at this age... ;-)

• Herbal teas (7 cups): Kidney tea, sage tea, cranesbill tea, Angelica tea, calcium tea, marigold tea, pimpernel tea (leaves found, roots not yet)

Day 14

Two weeks without food! Not bad. Four more to go! Ugh.. it's seems zillion days away.

Later, I was told by phone that my level of B12 is almost non existing (116), vitamin D as well (22), cholesterol high (235), LDL on 159... and the complete blood report available in approximately two weeks. Low B12 is understandable as I don't consume fish nor meat, but c'mon - high cholesterol?!? I'm not eating at all, nada, zip, niente... no eggs, no oils, no meat, no sugar (apart from the very natural one from fresh fruit juices)... Even lover vitamin D than on 17 May, before this cure and before this extensive sunbathing at Playa Saint Lazare?!? Know what, I'll go for a quick blood test tomorrow in order to have a double check & some paper in hand as it looks I'd really need to start taking some supplements ASAP.

• Humor: Good • Feeling: OK • Hungry: No

• Herbal teas (5 cups): Kidney tea, sage tea, cranesbill tea, calcium tea & marigold tea
• Orange & grapefruit juice (350 ml), cherry juice (time consuming; 200 ml), veggie juice (as yesterday, more spinach & basil leaves; 250 ml)
• Special treat: Hairdresser (curls, again ;-), sunbathing in the evening
• Morning: 9° C • Max. daytime temperature: 23° C • Weather: Sunny

Good morning!

• Morning: 9° C • Max. daytime temperature: 21° C • Weather: Sunny

Day 12 & 30 days to go

Good morning into foggy & third measurements morning! Minus 4 kilos & minus 6 cm around my waist in 11 days - not bad! Hopefully the goiter & nodule in my neck are shrinking too! Hmm... we were jokingly measuring whether I'm shrinking in height as well, but were completely blown away when it showed a bit more than one centimeter more than on the first day! Am I getting taller?! C'mon, we must have done something wrong the first time... ;-)

Nothing special during this foggy & sad day... We were watching brand new "Unthinkable" (2010) before going to bed... Yap, it's seldom only white or black... there's many shades of gray in-between.
